Points of Interest in Faulkner's Life

Faulkner's life is full of interesting details. He was born on September 25, 1897, and grew up with the influences of the Civil War still freshly imprinted on the land and the peopleWhile Faulkner has many success through his writing, however he had his fair share of failures. He was too short for the US Air Force, so he lied his way into the Royal Air Force. The war ended before he had a chance to fight. This didn't deter him from telling war stories to others about the experiences he had, or in this case hadn't, gone through. After the war he began got. Before this, Faulkner's childhood sweetheart Estelle Oldham arranged to marry another man. This proceeded to influence his writing career.

Faulkner earned two Pulitzer Prizes for his work, and his speech for his 1950 Nobel Prize is acclaimed as one of the most impressive speeches of any award recipient. Lots of his writing is about social justices issues and racism and the struggles of those dealing with injustices. Faulkner died of a heart attack in 1962, coincidently on the same date as his father.
